Why you would NEVER fully discharge the battery before recharging & why you would never continue to use the battery until it quits working.
Lithium polymer (LiPo) batteries do not need to be fully discharged before charging. Discharging them below 3.0 volts per cell can permanently damage them. Many chargers won't even allow charging if the voltage is below 2.5 volts per cell.
Never fully discharge the LiPo battery. The voltage of a discharged LiPo cell is 3.00v, and discharging below this will definitely damage the cell.
The Home Original battery has 3 cells
The nominal voltage of the home Original is 11.1V (3.70V*3 cells). A fully charged 3S pack is 12.60V and a fully discharged 3S pack is 9.00V. If the battery is allowed to discharge fully it is permanently damaged and will refuse to charge. It needs to be disposed of.
The Home Plus battery has 4 cells
The nominal voltage of the home Original is 14.8V (3.70V*4 cells). A fully charged 3S pack is 14.8V and a fully discharged 3S pack is 12.00V. If the battery is allowed to discharge fully it is permanently damaged and will refuse to charge. It needs to be disposed of.
