It is a tight fit! The Home Original battery fits best into the compartment if placed as shown in the image below. Note: you may opt to leave the cover off without affecting the operation of the drive if you know your dog won't grab the lure and pull the drive around the yard. If there is a risk of this, use the cover, as damage to the connector can result, and the fix includes replacing the PCB which can be expensive. 😅
