Home Original Kit
SwiftPaws Home Original is a battery‑powered interactive lure coursing system designed to give dogs high‑energy exercise and mental stimulation right in your backyard. It’s a premium enrichment toy that moves a lure around a course so your dog can chase it — simulating prey drive play.
🗝️ Key Features
- Up to 30 mph speeds — fast chase action for athletic dogs
- Courses up to ~300 ft long — great for medium‑sized yards*
- App‑controlled — use the free SwiftPaws smartphone app to start and control play
- Includes: Main drive unit, pulleys (usually 3), line, flags, stakes, tethers, line winder, tote bag, and charger. Batteries are not included — you choose a compatible battery separately. Access the battery buying guide here.
- Safety features — the system stops automatically if a dog touches or pulls on the line - see more safety features here.
What It Does
SwiftPaws Home Original lets you set up a custom lure‑chase course that simulates the thrill of chasing moving prey. It’s intended for energetic, chase‑loving dogs and is more engaging than static toys or fetch alone.
Play sessions are 90 seconds. Two play sessions a day is sufficient to tire out most dogs without over‑exerting them. It is a "together" activity so you can determine the right amount of play for your specific pup.
Power & Setup
- Requires a 3s 11.1 V LiPo rechargeable battery (sold separately) to operate.
- Designed to be set up and taken down after use.
- The parts housing electronics are not waterproof or weatherproof and must be stored in a climate controlled area when not in use.
- Course can be any size up to around 300 feet*
- Course configuration is flexible. You can use as few as one field pulley or as many as the motor and specific setup can manage - if you notice a decline in performance - go back to the size and configuration that did work and that will be your specific limits for that specific terrain.
- Setup is generally quick and customizable to your space.
- Use only the #18 braided nylon mason line - it is the only one that is approved for use with the equipment.
Who It’s Best For
- Medium to large dogs with average energy and fitness.
- Owners who want to provide physical + mental enrichment in the backyard.
🚫Who It’s Not For
- It is not recommended for growing puppies or senior dogs past their prime.
- Always get your veterinarian's approval before beginning any high intensity activity like lure coursing.

Compare Home Original vs Home Plus
Both kits can be controlled through the SwiftPaws app (Bluetooth) or with the optional Universal Remote Controller (sold separately).
| Feature | Home Original | Home Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Max Course Length | ~300 ft* | ~750 ft* |
| Top Speed | ~30 mph | ~36 mph |
| Battery | 3s 11.1v LiPo (not included) | 4s 14.8v LiPo (not included) |
| Best Use | Medium yards / general play | Large yards / play, fitness & training |
Bottom line:
Choose Home Original if you’ve got a medium backyard and want solid speed and enrichment without overkill. Choose Home Plus if space and power matter — it gives you a longer course and more speed for big runs and seriously active pups. Only Home Plus is capable of supporting a full 100 yard straight line course like the those used for FastCAT and similar events. See information on how to set up a straight line course here.
*Maximum size assumes a straight out and back course using the main drive unit and one field pulley. Anything that adds "drag" to the system - such as but not limited to additional pulleys, heavy/bulky lures, uneven terrain or an incline, may require a reduction in the overall course size.
