Check the ♾️ Universal Remote Battery

Universal Remote.jpg
The ♾️ universal Remote has a white dog on the handle.

It ships with a CR123A battery which is good for two years or more - so if the remote won't turn on; suddenly stops; or runs intermittently - it is usually due to the battery becoming jarred loose.

DO NOT USE ANY TOOL TO REMOVE THE BATTERY - IT WILL SLIP AND DAMAGE THE CIRCUIT CARD!
You can lift the whole circuit card out of the handle to better grasp the battery if you need to remove the battery. Watch your fingers, they can also damage the circuit card. See common damage in the images below - this is not covered under warranty.

To reseat or replace the battery

NOTE: To keep the internal elements in place when opening the case, keep it lying flat on a stable surface.

  • Remove the two screws from the case & separate the two halves.
  • The circuit card with the battery attached will lift out of the handle. Do not use tools to remove the battery they may damage the circuit board.
  • Reseat the battery if it is loose.
  • Replace the battery if it is dead. Note: the battery should last for two years or more!
  • Check the contacts that touch the ends of the battery - they can get bent if the remote is dropped just right - and this will cause poor contact with the battery and the remote won't work. Gently press inward to tighten contacts.

For the Universal remote - when replacing battery, make sure the positive (+) end of the battery is positioned towards the positive mark on the circuit board - when installed it will face the top (the dog's head) of the remote handle.

If you removed the whole circuit card - make sure the narrow tip of the circuit card points toward the top of the remote (the dog's head)

When replacing the components, check that the trigger wheel and spring are positioned as shown in illustrations below. Be sure the "foot" of the trigger wheel is facing the bottom of the remote when it's installed or you will experience "ghost running" where the lure will move without your input or the remote may not work at all.

TO AVOID CAUSING THE TRIGGER WHEEL TO STICK
When replacing the screws in the handle they do not need to be overly tightened!

  • If the trigger wheel does not move freely back to center when released
  • Loosen the screw nearest the trigger wheel until it moves freely.

The remote is powered by a disposable CR123A battery - DO NOT REPLACE WITH A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY
